U.S. Route 66, (aka U.S. Highway 66), was established on November 11, 1926.  It is one of the original highways in the United States Numbered Highway System. It was marketed as the best route from Chicago to the California coast. Its become a piece of Americana, seen in movies, read in books, and driven by many; both in delight and others in desperation, during the 1930s Dustbowl and Depression era, looking for a new start.
